One drawback is that adding a checkered american walnut stock does increase the weight of the Marlin. My all-time favorite hunt was last fall just outside of Piermont. I used to like style sights over three dot for target work on my Marlin 25-06 and 7 Mag rifles. My mom got her 7 Mag online at Cabelas. My dad said his favorite caliber is the 7 Mag he got at a NWTF banquet last season.
