My friend (Joel) said his favorite caliber is the 300 Weatherby Mag he got at a NWTF banquet last season. Joel got his Savage last fall at Wiley Outdoor Sports in Ephesus. The best caliber is for the Savage Sierra is 300 Weatherby Mag. My best friend Joel says his favorite caliber for deer and larger game is 300 Weatherby Mag and the best all around caliber for small and medium game is 243 Winchester.
